Lori
Eickleberry Schlien, Ph.D.
The Executive Director of our learning center in Boca Raton,
Dr. Lori Eickleberry Schlien earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology
from Nova Southeastern University’s Center for Psychological
Studies. Her experiences as a student, teacher, college
counselor, and therapist have given her a multifaceted
understanding of students’ academic and emotional
needs.
Lori coordinated the Guided Self-Change Clinic at the Center
for Psychological Studies’ Community Mental Health
Center and has worked as a therapist at student counseling
centers on the campuses of Florida Atlantic University and
the Medical University of South Carolina. While working closely
to help students therapeutically, she gained insight into
the importance of understanding psychological issues, stress
management, and career counseling. In addition, she has extensive
experience conducting student psychological evaluations for
Learning Disabilities and AD/HD.
Specializing in motivational enhancement therapy and goal-driven
behavioral change, Lori works within the community, conducting
training workshops in Motivational Interviewing. She also
continues working closely with college students as an Associate
Lecturer at Nova Southeastern University’s Farquhar
College of Arts and Sciences. In addition, Lori worked with
Judi Robinovitz as a college counselor in the High School
at Donna Klein Jewish Academy. Prior to joining Score At
The Top Learning Center, Lori guided college students through
their graduate-school applications, essays, and interviews.
Building on those experiences as well as her special skills
in reducing students’ anxiety, she works closely with
Judi in the educational-consulting arena, helping students
brainstorm and write application essays and prepare for interviews,
truly giving them an edge in college and graduate-school
admissions.
Lori has a passion for education and for motivating students
to not only set goals, but also to problem-solve and develop
plans to meet those goals. As Executive Director of our Boca
Raton center, Lori thoroughly discusses each student’s
needs with parents (and teachers, if appropriate), creates
a goal-driven support plan for each student, and carefully
matches the most appropriate tutors based on the student’s
learning style. She oversees our tutoring staff and maintains
ongoing relationships with parents, students, and teachers
to ensure top quality service to our client families.
Cathy Bicksler
As the Center Coordinator in Palm Beach Gardens, Cathy brings
a unique set of skills and life experiences to educating
children. With a BS in Accounting from Bowling Green
State University, she started her professional career as
a cost accountant for Goodyear. However, after marrying and
giving birth to the first of her seven children, Cathy made
a 20-year career change to become a "homeschool mom" to
her ever growing family. While teaching all her children
throughout their school years. Cathy also took many educational
seminars, including curriculum choice and customization,
project design, critical thinking, motivation, and making
learning "delight-directed." Cathy guided her four
oldest children through their successful college-application
process and is excited about following suit with her three
youngest. She is truly passionate about children and education.
Before coming to Score At The Top, Cathy taught middle-school
math and art at Marathana Christian Academy. Drawing heavily
on her 20+ years of helping her own and other children, Cathy
has an incredible knack for matching students to tutors.
She spends a great deal of time in conversation with parents
to analyze their children’s learning styles,
identify their academic-support needs, and develop a plan for
success. She also works closely with
our homeschool families in curriculum design, course scheduling, and enrichment
planning.
Cathy’s close contact with our tutors is a daily event in Palm
Beach Gardens. She regularly discusses the most effective teaching techniques,
the use of supplementary materials, and creativity in sessions. Keeping
in touch with local
schools is another dimension of her position as Center Coordinator; in
addition to setting up test-prep workshops and college-planning seminars on their
campuses, she organizes AP review sessions, summer-school classes, and courses
for academic credit in the Palm Beach Gardens Center.
Cathy takes great pride in helping parents, students, tutors,
and schools work together as partners in education!

Barri Litt, MSA, CPA
Barri is the Director of our Center in Coral Springs. Growing
up practically in the backyard of our newest Center, she
offers a high level of connection and passion for the city
and the success of its youth! She was actively engaged in
the community — academically (AP Scholar with Distinction)
and athletically (Stoneman Douglas varsity basketball captain) — prior
to attending the University of Florida on a full academic
scholarship.
In just four years, Barri earned her bachelor’s and
master’s degrees in accounting — with highest
honors — at the University of Florida. She received
the prestigious Anderson Scholar Award for her perfect 4.0
GPA. Throughout her undergraduate years, Barri tutored in
a variety of subjects, earning praise from both professors
and the students she led to success. As a graduate student,
she taught financial accounting and received the top evaluations
from her students and supervising professors. Impassioned
by giving back to the community, Barri completed a research
thesis on Corporate Social Responsibility before graduating
at the top of her class from the graduate school.
When Barri took the Certified Public Accountancy Examination
(one of the most difficult tests in the country), she achieved
perfect scores on three of the four sections. She was honored
as a recipient of the 2007 Elijah Watt Sells Award for achieving
one of the top ten exam scores in the nation — out
of the 50,000 test-takers. While many might apply this achievement
to corporate success, Barri uses her proven test-preparation
and academic successes to teach and inspire students!
Barri’s scope of academic expertise is wide; she has
been acknowledged for excellence in subjects ranging from
writing and Spanish to business and mathematics. As a Premium
Tutor with Score At The Top, Barri teaches all these subjects
and more. She serves as both mentor and academic coach for
students who need support in study skills, organization skills,
and time management. Barri also trains new tutors to prepare
students for the SAT, ACT, and other standardized entrance
exams.
As an Educational Consultant, Barri helps alleviate the
stress of the college and boarding-school application process
by effectively guiding students though their applications,
essays, and interview preparation. Under her guidance, students
develop an "edge" in the application process as
they learn how to distinguish themselves from their peers
and effectively present themselves on their applications.
Barri's high-energy, enthusiastic approach to teaching and
guidance ensures that her students gain not only valuable college-preparatory
skills, but positive lifelong habits as well.
